The Beachcomber started back in 1960 as a one-day event on the beach in Isla Blanca Park and that’s how it got its name. In 1992, the show moved into the newly opened, air-conditioned South Padre Island Convention Centre.
Today, it remains the largest and longest continuously running art show in South Texas. . The primary purpose of the show is to bring a premier art exhibit to South Texas, to provide scholarships for high school seniors, provide educational programs for children and adults, and support a gallery for local artist to display their work.
This 2007 show has more than 100 artists from Texas and Mexico.
